Candle making
"Candle making" is not dipping a wick into liquid wax as you might think. Actually, it's more along the lines of candle decoration. One of the most popular items to make is a /daimyo/, or feudal lord, along with his consort.
You start with a small wicked egg of white wax and some colored wax sheets. Wrap the sheets around the eggs to create the kimonos. Use finger pressure to meld the pieces of wax to the eggs; if that doesn't work, a hairdryer (provided) can heat the wax enough to make it stick together. Take bits of black wax to make some hair and then decorate it with colored accessories. Then comes the real challenge: making the face. These little dolls can show a surprising variety of expressions depending on what you do in terms of eyebrows, lips, cheeks, eyes, etc.,so use your imagination and be sure to plan carefully! Thick eyebrows on a consort, for instance, may give an unfortunate impression.

Once you have created a good expression on your candle, an attendant will seal the whole thing with a clear coating so that you can take it back home with you.
